Does Duct Cleaning Actually Help?

It depends on your situation. Duct cleaning is not magic — it won't fix a bad furnace or eliminate allergies on its own. But in the right circumstances, it makes a real difference:

• After a renovation — Drywall dust and construction debris gets into ducts and circulates through the house indefinitely.
• After mould or water damage — Ducts can harbour mould. Cleaning plus sanitization prevents recirculation.
• When moving into a home — You don't know what the previous owners had. Pets, smoking, construction — it all ends up in the ducts.
• With a new system — Installing a new furnace into dirty ducts defeats part of the purpose. We include duct cleaning with every new installation for this reason.
• After a long period without service — 5+ years in an older home, especially one with pets.

Power Duct Cleaning — How We Do It

We use powered rotary brush equipment with high-suction vacuum collection — not a shop vac approach that pushes debris around. The process:

1. Large collection vacuum attached to the main trunk.
2. Rotary brushes pushed through each supply and return duct, dislodging buildup.
3. All debris captured in the vacuum — nothing released into the house.
4. Supply registers cleaned and sanitized.
5. Furnace components inspected while we're there — we often catch filter problems and minor issues.
